Instructions for use

Our original creations are drawn and made with care by exceptional craftsmen. They are delicate and fragile.
Here are some tips to wear and love them for a long time.

Hand-embroidered in Pakistan with a very ancient savoir-faire, our fine metal embroideries are delicate.
They should neither be machine-washed nor dry-cleaned. Avoid all contact with water, acids or alcohol.  To keep your brooches shiny as long as possible, also avoid long exposures to heat and light.
Stash them away in their little black box!

A metal thread sticks out? Do not pull it! Cut it as short as possible. Do not bend.

Avoid friction (bag straps, seat belt…) that might damage or tear off your brooches.

Caution: the brooch may tear a hole in some delicate fabrics like silk or leather.

Machine-washed brooches mayday – because it can happen to the best of us! Don’t panic, you can mend it:
Retrieve the two parts that peeled off (it is usually what happens), try to delicately flatten the embroidery between your fingers. Gently apply flexible neoprene glue on both parts with a brush. When the glue doesn’t stick to your finger anymore, stick the parts back together. Tighten firmly with your fingers so as not to crush the embroidery.

How to attach your patches for an impeccable (and lasting) hold? Easy as pie.

First, chose a fabric that resists the heat of the iron. Cotton is ideal. Avoid silk, all the wools including cashmere, synthetic fabrics, and leather.  In case of doubt, take a test by pressing your hot iron on a non-visible part of your garment.   If your clothing item is too sensitive to heat, you can stitch the patch or ask your mom/dad/sonny to do it for you!

1. Remove the sticker fixing the patch to the card-back.
2. Warm up your iron at its maximum.
3. Place the patch where you wish and cover it with a cotton cloth.  You may also heat the fabric before you apply the patch.
4. Press your iron on the covered patch using the steam jet until the glue melts (it can take 5 to 20 seconds).  Careful not to burn your garment!  Start off by a short heating time, wait a few seconds until the fabric has cooled down a little, and check the adhesion by carefully slipping a nail under the rim of the patch.   If necessary, start again with a longer heating time.
5. Flip your garment and iron on the other side like at step 4.

If your patches are properly heat-applied, they will remain fastened to your clothes, even if you clean them regularly at a normal wash temperature.   We use a professional iron-on interfacing which we have personally tested. Its advantage is its resistance once adhered. Its inconvenient is it requires a very hot and high-quality iron. If you want to make sure they won’t budge, you can always add two or three discreet little stitches. Perfect!

Leather goods

Macon&Lesquoy leather goods are made with European supplies:
very supple lamb leather, vegetable-tanned cow leather, 100% wool felt…

Leather is a natural living product. Its colour may vary from one product to another and evolve with time.

M&L leather goods are made to last. They embellish while developing their patina.

Careful: It is water-sensitive, do not wash it. Avoid leaving them too long in the sun. Store it in the M&L cotton bag you received for that purpose.   Macon&Lesquoy patches can be ironed on the felt part. See the patches.
