Description
Shoes of the Empress.
M&L x Galliera Paris Museum
Limited edition brooch.
Size: about 3,5x4,8cm
What a pleasure it is to visit the treasures of the Galliera collections, to take out unique pieces, which make the history of French clothing, and to take them back with our high fashion hand embroidery.
Our brooch is inspired by a pair of pumps worn by Empress Eugenie around 1860. These shoes with small heels, characteristic of the 1860s, belonged to the empress, as the handwritten inscription "S.M. l'Impératrice" on the sole of the shoe attests. They bear the signature of Viault-Esté, a Parisian bootmaker. They were part of the exceptional collection of Madeleine de Galéa, passed on to the museum by her grandson after her death in 1962.
Manufacture
The embroidery on our brooches is entirely hand made with bullion thread, as to an ancient Indo-Pakistani technique.

Instructions for use
Our brooches are fragile. Avoid rubbing and water! So as to keep them longer, put them back in their pretty little cardboard box after use.
