Size: about 6,1x6,3cm
Krater, c. 1370–1325 BC
Clay
Paris, Louvre Museum, Department of Greek, Etruscan, and Roman Antiquities
This krater dates from the Late Bronze Age, more specifically the Late Minoan III A period (around the 14th century BC).
This period corresponds to the end of the Minoan civilisation on Crete, marked by strong Mycenaean influences in the arts and trade across the Mediterranean.
The style of this piece is characterised by refined pottery, with elegant forms and painted decorations often inspired by the marine, plant or geometric worlds.
This particular piece stands out for its red-figure decoration, enhanced by an octopus motif. As the octopus spreads its tentacles with grace, the liveliness of the lines reveals the painter’s mastery.

Manufacture
The embroidery designs for our brooches are exclusively imagined and created by the M&L designers. Each piece is entirely hand-embroidered using cannetille wire, following a centuries-old Indo-Pakistani embroidery technique. That is why, in 2009, we recruited our artisans in Pakistan, where we established our own embroidery workshop.
