The museum holds thirteen cloaks of the Order of the Holy Spirit. Whilst most date from the 19th century, this one is older and can be attributed to the early reign of Louis XV, probably made for his coronation in 1722 or in the years that followed.
It was intended for one of the four officers of the Order—provost and master of ceremonies, grand treasurer, clerk-secretary or herald—responsible for its administration and ceremonial duties.
Founded in 1578 by Henry III, the Order of the Holy Spirit was the most prestigious distinction of the French monarchy until the Revolution. Its mantle is adorned with tongues of fire, a motif chosen by Henry III in reference to Pentecost and the Holy Spirit, patron of the Order.

The embroidery designs for our brooches are exclusively imagined and created by the M&L designers. Each piece is entirely hand-embroidered using **cannetille** wire, following a centuries-old Indo-Pakistani embroidery technique. That is why, in 2009, we recruited our artisans in Pakistan, where we established our own embroidery workshop.

Our brooches are delicate. Avoid friction and contact with water. To keep them looking their best for years to come, store them carefully in their beautiful presentation box.

Our orders are prepared and shipped from Monday to Friday from Granville in Normandy.
