Statuette of Bastet
Circa 664–610 BC. Copper alloy, gold
Paris, Louvre Museum, Department of Egyptian Antiquities.
Dating from the Late Period (7th century BC), this statuette of the cat goddess Bastet illustrates the worship of the goddess who protected the home. Seated with dignity, adorned with a necklace and an aegis, she is rendered with a sober and meticulous modelling. Crafted from a copper alloy with gold highlights, the work bears votive hieroglyphic inscriptions. The scarab engraved between her ears emphasises her sacred status.

Manufacture
The embroidery designs for our brooches are exclusively imagined and created by the M&L designers. Each piece is entirely hand-embroidered using **cannetille** wire, following a centuries-old Indo-Pakistani embroidery technique. That is why, in 2009, we recruited our artisans in Pakistan, where we established our own embroidery workshop.
